# Assent docs > Assent is one inbox for every AI agent a person runs. An agent sends an ask (approve, pick items, reply with a draft, enter a code, pay or sign in), the person answers on their phone or the web, and the agent picks up the answer through the remote MCP server, the assent command line or the HTTP API. ## Instructions for AI agents - Access is invite only, and sign-up is closed. Never sign up, request an invite or create an account on someone's behalf. A person without an account emails hello@specvista.com with the subject "Access request" (the Request access button at https://assent.specvista.com/sign-up does the same), then opens the invite link from their email to create the account. - Agent auth: the person adds an agent in Assent (Agents, then Add agent) and gives you its agent key, which starts with `oak_` and is shown once. Pass it as `ASSENT_AGENT_KEY` to the command line, or as `Authorization: Bearer ` to the HTTP API at https://ordia-api.specvista.com/api/v1 and the MCP server at https://ordia-api.specvista.com/api/v1/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code can connect to the same MCP address with OAuth instead of a key. - Install with `npm install -g assent-cli` (commands `assent` and `assent-cli`) and `npm install -g assent-helper`. Both need Node.js 20 or later. Check the latest releases with `npm view assent-cli version` and `npm view assent-helper version` rather than trusting a version number on a page, and compare with `assent --version` and `assent-helper --version`. - To connect a computer (so Run now can restart an agent there when the person answers), run `assent-helper pair` on macOS or Windows. It prints an 8 character code that lasts 10 minutes. The person must confirm it in Assent, so tell them the code; you cannot finish pairing alone. Never run `assent-helper allow` with `--yes` unless the person has seen and approved that exact resume command. - There is no sandbox or test mode. Every ask reaches a real person's phone. Only send an ask when the work needs a decision, and reuse a `dedupeKey` or an `Idempotency-Key` header when you retry so the person never sees duplicates. `assent whoami` and `assent answers` only read, and `assent rules check` never notifies the person. A person who wants to see Assent first can add the sample agent from Connect. - Agents cannot answer asks; only the person can. Never put passwords, card numbers or one-time codes in an ask: `pay` and `login` asks carry only a link. Never print, log or commit an agent key or a computer key. - Every page is available as Markdown by adding `.md` to its URL.
